Brutus vs. Antony Speeches

I believe Antony had a more persuasive speech. Brutus really focuses on how he is right and focuses on himself and thinks he is better than everyone. Antony really makes a point to not focus the speech on himself, but on Caesar and the other men and how great they are. He uses repetition to really get this point across. Also, he is doing this to help make sure the people know he is playing for the right team because Antony doesn't want them to attack him. Antony uses logos to explain to the crowd how Caesar really was an honorable man unlike what Brutus told them. He lists reasons like he was humble and that he turned down the crown three times instead of just taking all of that power. Another thing is that Antony uses pathos to show his emotional connection to Caesar. He talks about how he really did love Caesar and that they were good friends. This helps him get the crowd on his side because they feel bad for him and his loss. A way that they both use ethos is when they start their speeches Brutus uses "Romans, countrymen, and lovers" and Antony uses "Friends, Romans, countrymen". This is an appeal to character because he lists a few social classes and they are general enough to include everyone, but yet specific enough to narrow it down so someone will feel like he is talking to them directly. Again, I feel that Antony had a more persuasive speech and got the crowd on his side more than Brutus did.
